Hi I'm Nikki & I'm back. I've been ill and not been able to post, just like my website which needs a major overhaul and we'll get to that.

I have become enthralled in Pineapples.  I'd like to show you my pineapple wreath. I love this wreath because it is so inviting. I keep it in the foyer of my house on an easel so nobody will miss it. It goes well with the pineapple mat they step onto and the beautiful decorations I've accumulated. My favorite will always be the small Waterford pineapple I have had for many years I have on a gorgeous glass table welcoming you into my house. She is so generous.

There are so many meanings with pineapples but the first that has always come to mind besides they've always been my favorite fruit is WELCOME. I appreciate your coming to my house, hospitality, friendship, warmth & it's naturally the queen of fruits because of it's crown and I like being the queen of my house.

The saying you've probably seen the most is Be a Pineapple: Stand Tall. wear a crown, & Be Sweet on the Inside. I agree but I think that's gotten too commercial.

Honestly back in older days Pineapples Symbolized The power for Good and a sign of good luck in the Chinese culture. I like to think of that now. So now to some the pineapple has become a popular traditional Feng shui symbol of wealth, fortune, and prosperity.
     - If that is true, then I really did have the most loving women who came to celebrate with me on my birthday which was on April 11. Thank you to Tappi, Debbie, Kara, Vien and I would never forget my mother. My daddy was feeling ill and couldn't make it but I did get to see him that morning.
     - I was never expecting the wonderful Pineapple gifts (and we miss you Janice). I received from my extroidenary friends and I can't even begin to start with my parents. It goes to show you when you think you're alone, you're not.

I just read where if you have pineapples, good luck will come your way, well my amazing collection -  and I do need all the good luck anyone could possibly send me. Just know if you find yourself receiving a pineapple, you must be one really lucky person.

It's Baseball Time

My best friend ordered a STL Cardinals Wreath for her mother. My friend told me that after her mom saw the wreath I made her last year for her birthday, her mom tried to take it home with her - she joked. She didn't want the wreaths to be identical so I looked at different signs and thought this was a cute new design. It is actually quite large. My father almost took it home with him one day while I was working on it. Little does he know, I have the same bird and Cardinal. I plan to make him STL birthday surprise!

 I guess it has become a big hit too among many of her friends and neighbors, which is quite funny since she lives very close to where the Chicago Cubs play. I guess people never lose their taste. :)

Meet Gracie

This is Gracie, she is the newest member of our family. Gracie is a Japanese Chin just like her big sister Ella.

This is Ella. Ella turned 14 years old one day in May. We went for a drive and we found Gracie. Happy Birthday Ella! 

They took to one another very quickly. It has been 6 weeks now and Gracie just turned 7 months old.  Gracie has gotten really tall. She loves to lay on the bed with her big sissy and her mommy. We spend most of our mornings snuggling.  She brings a lot of joy to everyone and a ton of energy wherever she goes (sometimes a little much for mommy & Ella). We just lay back and watch her zoom in and out of the house and around the house. 

Gracie loves to lay outside on my chaise lounge. She thinks my towel holders are new chew toys.  

The girls love the golf cart. They are perfect riders.

 I caught Gracie outside one night. She loves to lay outside, especially since she can use the double doggy door herself now. That was a big day in our house!

• 2016 has been a slow year for me. For those who know me or remember my postings, I have extremely bad chronic daily migraines. I have a new pain doctor who is going to try some new blocks in the next couple of weeks.  I'm a little nervous about this one because it is all about my nose. I hate things going in my nose. I suffer so tremendously between my eyes (well, my whole eyes hurt) and then everything in that area. So he's numbing the nerves to try something - there is something permanent if it helps.  He's very surprised I haven't been getting this type of therapy in all the years I've been suffering. I also have multiple other chronic illnesses and when you put everything together, I unfortunately don't get a lot accompliced like I used to. I try to do as much as I can when I am feeling up to it. This year just is not liking me. I have 5-6 Spring Wreaths that I still want to make but are still in that holding pattern. I luckily, with the support of my parents, got my work room in almost perfect order so when I am able, everything is ready for me to just work. 
• There is another little issue I'm dealing with but this one deserves a whole post. You will love it!
• A lot of my wreaths are one of a kind, like my jewelry and hand painted pottery. If you see something that you think that you just can't live without - email me, private message me on Facebook. I will try and do the best I can. Many of the signs I buy and use are one of a kind or once the season is over, I can't get them again. A few are possible at large craft stores from year to year, but I never know if I'm buying the last season period or if I'm at the start of the stage. I can usually come up with something similar or even cuter. You will see an example of this in last year's Christmas Elves wreaths.

I know it's a little late but some things are worth waiting for! - well maybe...

Ladies & Gentlemen - I have so many cute Fall & Halloween wreaths I wanted to share with you but somehow Blogger won't let me post them. Every single time I have tried to add a picture the website shut down. I am very perplexed. I did everything they said to do and still - NOTHING. So, I will try again at a later date or maybe I will try another type of blog - one that will actually WORK!!! This is pathetic.

I also have many other photos of pretty jewelry & fun pottery that I haven't put on here because I've been quite busy. Plus I have so many new Christmas items in the works that I just can't wait to put on here - if it will ever be possible. Christmas Gift Wreaths this year

It's Wreath Time

I made each of these wreaths for gifts this year.

 Red/Gold 24" Evergreen Wreath #14 Christmas (NDW14)



- This is a 24" Evergreen Wreath. I used gold deco mesh and 2 rolls of ribbon (parts of them, I should say)/  I used a really pretty thick red with gold glitter balls & a thinner ribbon of gold glitter.  I used a mixture of red & gold sticks but it looks like more red. I had all my red & gold out for my mom to pick out what she wanted & of course it was overkill but it was better than not having enough. Well, she found this fun gold orb's with topaz rhinestones in the center - it's one my mom really likes.  There are actually small glitter balls that I made last year & it gives it more glitter.

 

Gold 24" Evergreen Wreath #1 Christmas -Winter-like (NDW1)

-  This is a 24" Evergreen Wreath.  I used a beautiful gold ribbon all around the wreath.  I then decided what would look good on it & found this fun gold orb's with topaz rhinestones in the center. I found plain & glitter balls + small glittered light bulbs for a little fun around the wreath.

Christmas-Winter Grapevine Wreath 2012 #12 (LGNDW12)

-  This wreath is a grapevine wreath with white deco mesh & silver/white ribbon + I added a strong silver glitter ribbon.  I used lots of silver and silver picks and balls to give it dimension.  There are poinsettias sticks, icicles, Silver glitter "pine cone-looking" sticks, a silver-rhinestone snowflake, the favorite of my mother's is on the right side is a silver-bongy stick.  It has lots of points that "bounce" out wherever & are just plain fun.  There are also a few white snowflakes added here & there as well.

-   I got this idea from my Favorite Jewelry artist a few years ago, Shelley Pleines (FKA Nybakke).  She has some of the most amazing pieces & teaches around the country - for one thing because she can really teach, she will take her time with you & not do it for you or get frustrated. She wants you to be the best you can be. I was lucky enough to get to know her & learn from her when she still owned her store in Bloomington-Normal, IL
